General Description


An advanced flexible testing system ideal for standard and advanced automatic tests on construction materials.
• P.I.D. closed loop control
• Control up to 4 different hydraulic frames
• Perform tests under control of:
- Load/Stress
- Displacement
- Strain
• For connection of pressure transducer, load cells, displacement and strain transducers
• Particularly suitable to test Deformability and Ductility of:
- Fiber reinforced concrete
- ShotCrete
- Concrete with polymer fibre lining
• High flexibility: can control very low capacity hydraulic frames up to 5000 kN models.

The Advantest 9 is ideal both for traditional tests, such as compression and flexure tests on concrete, cement, mortar, blocks etc. and cyclic tests for the determination of secant Elastic Modulus (E), and also for advance tests to determine the mechanical properties of materials.

For example to measure the ductility and fracture energy of concrete reinforced with fibres (FRC) and lined with polymers (FRP), or the toughness of sprayed concrete slabs (ShotCrete) under concentrated load tests

The Main Advantages

  • Extra Channels: in addition to the four channels used for the connection of up to four separate test frames, an extra four channels are provided for connection to the displacement transducers, pressure transducers, load cells, strain gauges or similar sensors, which can be freely configured by the user in accordance with the testing requirements on a case by case basis.

Hardware and On Board Software

    • 1 for displacement transducer (potentiometric LVDT amplified or analogical)
    • 3 for deformation transducers (clip gauge, strain gauge).

The configuration can be altered by the user to specific needs (except the 4 channels for load sensors, which are fixed).

  • Electrical Characteristics of the Channel Conditioners:
    • Feed 1 to 10 V DC calibrated by trimmer
    • Single/dual ended input selected by jumper
    • Input signal from -2.5 to +2.5 V DC
    • Zero and gain calibrated via software
  • Data acquisition synchronised on all channels
  • 8 analogical outputs corresponding to each channel for transmission of the signals and eventual use of an external data acquisition system
  • Test Execution with Controls of:
    • Load/specific load
    • Displacement
    • Deformation

Using either of the 8 channels as the control signal

  • Diagnostic system to highlight any malfunction of the system including low oil level and dirty oil filter
  • Large 320x240 pixel display
  • Storage of various calibration curves for immediate connection of various sensors
  • Dynamic tests at low frequency
  • Execution of user set cyclic test with maximum frequency 0.5 Hz

Note. The maximum work frequency is dependent on the size of the wave of load, displacement or deformation and on the deformability of the sample.

Software Modules:

  • Performs the remote control of the system. Manages the graphical and numerical display of the data read by the machine including the overlay of various curves on the same axis (e.g. 3 different deformation curves with respect to a single time axis)
  • Performs tests made in cycles of steps set by user
  • Allows printout of test reports
  • Allows real time variation of all the test parameters during the test, including variation of the channels and/or control variable
  • Language selection between English, Italian, French, Spanish, plus another language, which can be input by the user by overwriting messages of the desired language.
